Anonymous asked: i don't know exactly bu i feel so depressed recently and i can't get rid of the feeling. i keep putting all my energy into creating ideal scenarios in my head but my actual life is just shit, repetetive and miserable for me. i'm also having trouble getting over somebody who has neveractually been mine and who i've kind of fallen in love with from a distance if that makes sense. i feel muddled up and horrible and just lifeless.

I can relate to so much of this, and I think it’s really important to know that a lot of people feel this way. I don’t mean that to say that what you’re going through isn’t important, I just mean that you might be surprised how many people around you feel the same if they opened up. It really helps to talk.

Right now your problems probably seem insurmountable and I think you’re probably feeling a little bit lost and directionless in your life? (unless this is just me projecting my own feelings onto you, in which case I apologise). It might sound silly but it may help to write down everything you want on a list. By want, I don’t mean new shoes or anything - I mean what’s truly going to fulfil you (though arguably new shoes may do that, haha). So maybe one thing would be to get over this person, another might be to live a more exciting life day to day, etc etc. Once you’ve got that written down, think about steps you can take to achieving those things. It won’t be easy. But for example, when trying to get over someone, I find that what works best is distraction. And because when we fall for someone we tend to think more about them then ourselves, the best distraction is putting the focus back on you. Be selfish. Get your hair done, start a new workout routine, bake brownies and watch a film with your friends. I know all these things sound silly and pointless, but I really do think it’s important to treat yourself nicely when you’re feeling down.

When you’re feeling low it’s easy to think ‘everything is wrong, nothing is right’ but I bet if you looked around you’d be able to find things to be happy about. I’m not talking about walking around all day with a massive grin on your face - but just little things which you can be grateful for, which remind you things are not really as bad as they might seem. Optimism is a skill: the more you practice, the better you’ll get at it.

I’m always here to talk if you need me :) And please feel free to come off anon so I can message/talk to you more regularly, if you’d like. I hope you feel better soon xxxxxxxxx

You know what’s amazing for your skin? Coconut oil! I recently started using it instead of moisturiser and it works wonders. It’s naturally antibacterial, pretty cheap - I think this big pot was £7 or so -, and smells amazing (well, if you like the smell of coconuts).
